Celebrate National Mutt Day July 31

Phoenix, AZ – July 22, 2015 – Have you ever considered the adoption of an interesting mixed- breed dog from a local shelter? The Arizona Veterinary Medical Association recognizes National Mutt Day on July 31 as the perfect time to enrich your life with a blended-heritage pet.
“Mutts come in all shapes and sizes, and tend to be full of personality. This can be very alluring to certain people who desire a unique dog. The combination of breeds can be quite interesting and often the topic of conversation,” says Dr. Adriana Stinnett, DVM, of Cave Creek.
Created to raise awareness of the desirable qualities of mutts and their need for good homes, National Mutt Day is observed biannually (December 2). Colleen Paige, pet advocate and author, initiated the observances to focus on the positive aspects of mixed breeds.
“There are thousands of loving and intelligent mixed-breed dogs who need homes in local shelters across the Valley. They make excellent additions to any family or individual seeking the companionship of a dog,” says Brian Serbin, DVM, of Ingleside Animal Hospital in Phoenix.
