Janet E. Woods

Hospital Administrator & Management Consultant

     Jan Woods’ health care career has spanned over thirty years in both human and veterinary medicine. Ms. Woods most recent positions in human healthcare were in senior management with national healthcare companies. She was the Vice President of Operations and Development for Care Net Health Systems based in Nashville, TN. and the Vice President of Operations and Development for Communicare and NBC HealthCare, based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. 
     In 2001, Ms. Woods moved into veterinary medicine as the Hospital Administrator for Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center of Kansas City, (VSEC). From May of 2004 through March of 2016 she was the Co-owner, Hospital Administrator and Vice President of the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson, (VSCT). Under Jan’s direction, VSCT grew an estimated 400% since it opened in 2004 and more than doubled the number of specialty services it offered.  Ms. Woods was directly responsible for the daily growth and management of VSCT’s 31 veterinarians and its 53 support staff employees and managers. Under Jan’s direction VSCT received the following awards: A). 2010 Community Service, Wells Fargo Copper Cactus Award, B). 2008 Best Place to Work, Wells Fargo Copper Cactus Award, C). 2008 Outstanding Customer Service, Arizona Small Business Association SASIE Award, and D). 2008 Arizona Companies to Watch, Comerica Bank Award
     Ms. Woods also owns her own medical consulting company; Veterinary Management and Marketing Specialists. Some of Jan’s present and past clients include; Cubex, Inc., where she served as the controlled substance regulatory consultant. Advanced Veterinary Specialists where she currently provides Hospital Administrator consultation and Mountain View Animal Clinic and Coast to Coast Cardiologists where she provides practice management consultation. Jan speaks and consults with veterinarians nationally on a full-time basis. Her areas of expertise encompass clinic and hospital practice management, operations, finance, human resources, employee engagement, marketing and compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations. 
     Jan served as a two-time President of the Veterinary Specialty Practice Alliance. In 2012 Jan received the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Southern Arizona Business Woman Owner of the Year Award, she was also nominated for this award in 2010. In 2010 & 2011, Ms. Woods was a finalist for the international Athena Award. Jan was also selected in 2011 as one of the “Committee of 100 Women by the Girls Scouts of Southern Arizona Sahuaro” and was nominated for The Tucson Women of Influence award in 2010 & 2011.
     In 2006, Jan was invited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Law Association conference in Oahu, Hawaii to speak on “Controlled Substances 101, How and Why You Must Comply!” She has been asked to present the same topic numerous times since 2006 and will be presenting this topic at the Arizona Academy of Veterinary Practice on July 31, 2018.



Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received before 2-27-19 will receive refunds in full. No-shows or cancellations received after 2-27-19 will be charged the full amount.

Late Registration Policy: Registrations received on or after March 10, 2019 will be charged a $10 late registration processing fee.
