Alumni Program Overview

**NEW LOCATION** Now held at AZPetVet Training Center in Glendale.

Exclusively offered to VHCTAz-member, Certificate Program Managers Graduates

Alumni Reunion is designed to build on the foundation we have laid for exceptional veterinary teams. Join your fellow managers and dive deeper into the lessons of the Certificate Program. Examine the triumphs and struggles with other managers in a supportive and resolution-oriented environment. Discuss the successes of implementing the strategies and dealing with challenging experiences as you embarked on the journey of applying what you learned to the realities of everyday practice. The Alumni reunion is approved for 4 CE hours by the Arizona Academy of Veterinary Practice (for technicians) & 4 CVPM credits (for managers) by VHMA.

Attendees must be graduates of the Professional Veterinary Team Member Certificate Program and have a current membership to the Veterinary Health Care Team of Arizona. Registration is $46 for active VHCTAz members, or $82 to renew VHCTAz membership and register to attend.

Session Topics

  • Getting the Team to Buy in Mentally

Thank you for participating in a previous Certificate Program. During this session, discussion will center around what portion of the managers’ sessions were you able to implement successfully. We will be focused on troubleshooting challenges from implementing strategies and tools provided during Certificate Program. If you had to change course, how can you continue to improve the process of building exception veterinary teams? You will be able to use the same process with your team when evaluating programs, services and client experience. You will leave with a sense of how to adapt resources to your team’s unique culture through research-based practices.  Remember, when we created this program, it was designed for you to use the exercises and resources with your team. This problem-solving session is no different!

Attracting and Retaining Quality Veterinary Team Members

  • Should I stay or should I go?

Statistics point to the fact that a large percentage (upwards of 50%) of your team is asking this exact question on a daily basis, “Should I stay or should I go?” Veterinary hospitals experience turnover twice that of other industries; an alarming statistic. Is it any wonder managers are continually on the lookout for qualified, formally-trained veterinary technicians and team members?

  • Is it really about the money or is it an excuse to leave an unhealthy culture?

The shortest distance from point A to point B is a straight line. How efficient is your team when walking this line? Together we will review an outpatient appointment and determine how a team can efficiently streamline the process while building relationships and offering the best care possible. We will identify tools and techniques that can be applied to assist your team in running like an efficient, appealing and precise Swiss Watch.

  • Defining Best Practices in Team Retention

There are best practices in nearly all aspects of small businesses. We will focus on generating a list for Best Practices in Team Retention. Managers may need to reach beyond their comfort zone to establish effective lines of communication, define a clear vision for the practice and grow team members’ careers (not just a job!). Relief is on the way! There is hope as models prove team satisfaction and retention can be a reality.

Attendee Outcomes

Outcomes will include practical solutions to unifying and getting the buy-in of the entire team, and gaining resources and activities to unify and strengthen teams. This opportunity to share your experiences in implementing the program is designed to provide you more guidance where needed.

  • Adapting resources to your team’s unique culture
  • Maximizing the return on your investment in the team
  • Troubleshooting challenges from implementing strategies and tools
