Jan Woods’ health care career has spanned over thirty years in both human and veterinary medicine. Ms. Woods positions in human healthcare were in senior management with national healthcare companies. She was the Vice President of Operations and Development for Care Net Health Systems based in Nashville, TN. and the Vice President of Operations and Development for Communicare and NBC HealthCare, based in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

In 2001, Ms. Woods moved into veterinary medicine as the Hospital Administrator for Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center of Kansas City, (VSEC). From May of 2004 through March of 2016 she was the Co-owner, Hospital Administrator and Vice President of the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson, (VSCT). She managed 31 veterinarians and 53 support staff and managers. During her tenure, VSCT received the following awards: The 2010 Community Service, Wells Fargo Copper Cactus Award; The 2008 Best Place to Work, Wells Fargo Copper Cactus Award; The 2008 Outstanding Customer Service, Arizona Small Business Association SASIE Award and the 2008 Arizona Companies to Watch, Comerica Bank Award.

Jan served as a two time President of Veterinary Specialty Practice Alliance (VSPA) from 2006-2013. Jan received the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Southern Arizona Business Woman Owner of the Year Award in 2012. Ms. Woods was a finalist for the international Athena Award in 2010 & 2011. Jan was also selected in 2011 as one of the “Committee of 100 Women by the Girls Scouts of Southern Arizona Sahuaro” and was nominated for The Tucson Women of Influence award in 2010 & 2011.

Ms. Woods owns her own veterinary consulting company; Veterinary Management and Marketing Specialists. She speaks and consults with veterinarians nationally. Her areas of expertise encompass clinic and hospital practice management, operations, finance, human resources, employee engagement, marketing and compliance with state and federal regulations. Some of Jan’s past clients include Advanced Veterinary Specialists where she provided practice management consultation and served as the Hospital Administrator. Jan also provided pharmaceutical sales development consultation to M.G. Biologics. Current clients include Mountain View Animal Clinic, Coast to Coast Cardiologists and Corinne Ducey, MFT, M.A, Ph.D. She is currently employed as the Professional Services & Regulatory Affairs Manager for the veterinary division of Cubex, LLC.

Jan presented to the American Veterinary Medical Law Association at the American Veterinary Medical Association conference in Oahu, Hawaii in 2006 on Controlled Substances 101: How & Why You Must Comply! She will repeat an updated presentation on the same topic at their conference in Washington D.C. in August 2019. Jan’s presentation is RACE approved and she will be presenting at the VMX & Western Veterinary Conferences in the Zoetis Theater, the Chicago Vet Conference, the New York Vet Conference, the Wild West Conference, the American Veterinary Medical Law Association (AVMLA), the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, as well as numerous other private and corporate veterinary organizations.
