Members of the Arizona veterinary community gathered at the Orange Tree Golf Resort in Scottsdale on April 18 for the annual Spring Specialist meeting featuring the allied industry awards luncheon. AzVMA designates the month of April each year as “Allied Industry Month” to honor its allied members and the significant contributions they make to the association and to the success of veterinary practices.

Dr. Michael Sorum, president-elect of the AzVMA, presided over the ceremonies. He expressed the association’s appreciation and admiration for their service to the profession. “AzVMA allied members represent over 24 categories of help and support for your practice. They contribute to your success through a mutual interest in building valued relationships with your practice and for your veterinary community, he said. “Something you should know is that AzVMA allied members are bound by a set of core values. They include trust and integrity, professionalism, expertise, collegiality, responsibility and respect for differences. Whether performing a service for your practice, or volunteering their time at the AzVMA, you can be sure that they are dedicated servants to all things veterinary medicine. And here’s another significant fact. The financial contributions of allied industry members represent approximately 30 percent of AzVMA’s annual budget,” Dr. Sorum said.

Brad Berg, of CapitalSource, was presented with the “Most Valuable Player” award. He has been a member of the allied industry committee for many years, serving in a leadership role, and helping to organize and present continuing education programs. CapitalSource is also an AzVMA premier sponsor. Lyndee Kelver, marketing director for Spectrum Labs, was honored as “Allied Industry Member of the Year.” Lyndee, an enthusiastic participant on the allied industry committee, has a tremendous “can-do” spirit and gives selflessly of her time to provide education and training for veterinary professionals here and abroad.

Tracy Chapin, of Victor Medical Supply and Desiree Hoogerhuis from Elanco, also members of the allied industry committee, earned the designation of “Allied Industry All Stars” for their active volunteer efforts and participation in numerous AzVMA events.

AzVMA would like to thank the 2017 premier sponsors: Alliance Bank of Arizona, Ames Diversified Services, AZ Pet Vet, AVMA PLIT, Camala C. Bailey, CPA, PC, CPA-4-Vets, CapitalSource, Diamondback Drugs , Elanco, Midwestern University, PHOCUS Financial, Royal Canin, VCA Animal Referral & Emergency Center of AZ, VCA Paradise Valley Emergency Animal Hospital, Veterinary Anesthesia Systems, Inc., Veterinary Practice Advisors and Zoetis.
