How is the AzVMA different than the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board?

 

The Arizona Veterinary Medical Association and Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board are two separate organizations.

 

The Arizona Veterinary Medical Association (AzVMA) is a membership organization for veterinary professionals. AzVMA’s mission is to promote excellence in veterinary medicine through active involvement of its members by providing a forum for the veterinary community to address issues related to:

·        animal & human health

·        animal welfare

·        education

·        legislation

·        public information

·        practice management

 

The purpose of the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board is to regulate the veterinarians, certified veterinary technicians, veterinary premises, and animal crematories in Arizona. The examining board oversees:

·        Arizona veterinary licensure & technician certification (CVT)

·        state licensing examinations, renewal, and reinstatement

·        veterinary premises

·        complaints & investigations

·        AZ Revised Statutes - Veterinary Practice Act

 

 

Who is on the AzVMA Board?

 

AzVMA’s Board is comprised of officers, directors, advisory council, a legislative representative, and AVMA delegates. See a list of current board members here.

 

 

How can I serve on the AzVMA Board of Directors?

 

AzVMA seeks candidates for seats on its board representing districts throughout Arizona. Applications are emailed to members annually in the spring.

How does the AzVMA protect my veterinary license?

 

AzVMA has a legislative representative that monitors legislation and helps lead association efforts to protect your veterinary license.
